Title
Frankenstein Lesson Plans
Subject
Teaching Frankenstein
Description
Lesson plans reflect on how Mary Shelley's Frankenstein has evolved over the past twenty years. Through the comparison of lesson plans from two different decades, it becomes evident that society plays a role in the overall meaning that teachers want their students to take away from the novel.
The lesson plan "Frankenstein Anticipation Guide," created by Kelly Armstrong, discusses the ways in which society shaped the creature; while the approach "Teaching Frankenstein from the Creator's Perspective" by Paul A. Cantor and Michael Valdez Moses attempts to encourage people to view the novel from the perspective of the Creature rather than that of his creator. Additionally, both of these different approaches to teaching the novel encourages readers to interpret the story in new ways.
